Mary Jane Brown, 70, a lifelong Platte County, Mo resident passed away October 29, 2012. Mary Jane was born September 28, 1942 to Clifford and Nina Brown. She attended East Platte Elementary School and graduated from Platte City High School. Her last employer was the Social Security Division of the U.S. Government, retiring in 2004. Mary Jane had the honor of being a Princess at the Platte County Fair one year. She was a member of the Northland Community Choir, Platte Woods Christian Church and Barry Christian Church. She was very devoted to her church work. Her hobbies were embroidering, playing the piano and reading. Mary Jane was born with a disability that would challenge her all of her life. She was strong enough to meet those challenges even though her parents were told she would never live a long life. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors include her brothers, Howard (Camile) Brown, Steven (Heather) Brown, sister, Janet (Mel) Stevenson, aunt, Norma McCrea, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and caregivers. Mary Jane's ready smile will be missed by many. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday November 5th at Barry Christian Church, 1500 NW Barry Road, with visitation preceding services 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Burial in Second Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Barry Christian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
