Martha Laverne Taylor, daughter of the late Martin & Mae Jones, was born on February 7, 1928 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and departed this life on November 21, 2018 in Olathe, Kansas. At the time of her passing she was 90 years of age. She was a member of the Overland Park Church of Christ for many years.

Laverne was raised and spent her early years in and around Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. At the age of sixteen she met Marion Brewer and they were united in marriage two years later in 1946. They were together for 21 years and had four children. They lived in several different states following work and ended up in Raytown, Missouri. Later in life she met Bob Mahaney and they were united in marriage for 22 years and lived in Overland Park, Kansas until his passing. She was then united in marriage to Dorrell Taylor until his passing in 2005. She was a very caring, giving woman who made sure that the needs of all her friends and family were met before her own. She was fun loving and always had a smile on her face. She loved to spend holidays with her family, a tradition which continued until she was 89 years of age.

Laverne was preceded in passing by her parents; three husbands; three sisters; one brother; and one son. She is survived by her three children, Paula (Ivan) Owen, David Brewer and Denise Atwell; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and family who will all truly miss her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Overland Park Church of Christ, 13400 W 119th, Overland Park, KS.
