Marjorie Eitel

April 16, 1928 — January 15, 2019

Marjorie Carolyn Crawford Eitel, 90, long time resident of the Kansas City Metropolitan area, passed away on January 15, 2019 due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

The funeral service will be held at McMurry United Methodist Church, 25 Eugene Field Road, Claycomo, MO 64119, on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2pm, with visitation beginning at 12:30pm and burial immediately following the funeral at Terrace Park Cemetery, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. Pastor Cristine Tucker-Key of McMurry will be officiating.

Marjorie was born in La Plata, MO on April 16, 1928 to Ernest and Mary Crawford. She graduated from La Plata High School and attended one year of college in Kirksville, MO, receiving a 1-year teaching certificate.

Marjorie was married to Henry W. Eitel on April 20, 1947. They were married 68 years at the time of Henry's passing.

Marjorie worked as a teacher in a one room school house for one year. Other jobs included being a checker for Thriftway and a billing clerk at a jewelry store. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was actively involved in women's ministry at church and when she was younger was involved in PTA at her children's schools.

Marjorie is survived by her children; Nel (Al) Wiley and Ernie (Carol) Eitel; grandchildren, Matt (Meagan) Wiley, Erin (Russell) Walter; great grandchildren, Devon and Jade Wiley, Liz Buddemeyer, Kyleigh, Alex, and Isaac Walter; sister, Marilyn Cannaday; and Charlie Julian. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents and four brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, McMurry United Methodist Church, or Pleasant Valley Manor. The family of Marjorie Eitel wishes to thank Pleasant Valley Manor and Ascend Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Marjorie in the end stages of Alzheimer's.
