Marjorie Ellen Bowen, 81, of Smithville, Missouri passed away April 16, 2014 at New Mark Care Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00pm, Thursday, April 24th, 2014 with visitation one hour prior at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Chapel, 169 Hwy and Shoal Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Marjorie was born October 28, 1932 in Fargo, North Dakota. She was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force with special work duties in OSI. She was also a supervisor at JCPenny's for many years. She married Philip Delayne Bowen in 1966 and lived in Norman, Oklahoma before she transferred back to Kansas City to be with her children. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her grandchildren.      She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sadie Peterson; brother, Bud Peterson; sister, Naomi Campbell and her loving husband, Delayne Bowen.     She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Atkerson of Olathe, Kansas and Jennifer (Tracy) George of Smithville, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner and Emily; 2 step- grandchildren, Alex and Andrew; 1 sister, Janice Borud of Fargo, North Dakota; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Hillis and Marybeth Bowen of Hiawatha, Kansas and Ron and Marylou Bowen of Holton, Kansas. A special 'Thank You' to all the caregivers and staff at New Mark Care Center for their love and attendance.
