Marilyn was born on May 1, 1933 in Burlington, IA. At 2 years old, she was adopted by George and Pearl Dowell. Marilyn had and maintained a loving relationship with her biological family throughout her life. She married Harold Shipley on October 16, 1955. The two had 4 children. Marilyn was a beloved Avon Lady for 47 years. Marilyn and Harold were members of the Coachmens Club and spent time traveling and camping. They also enjoyed bowling on leagues. She also enjoyed crocheting and used her talent to make blankets for local nursing home residents. Playing cards was a past-time of Marilyn’s, as well. She played in a ladies group that called themselves the “Game Dames.” She enjoyed going to Iowa to visit family. She loved playing cards with her favorite cousin/sister, Judy Cousins, and “playfully” arguing! In her later years, she would spend time watching hummingbirds and deer out of her front picture window! She so loved to watch animals! She always said it didn’t matter how old she was because, “I’m living younger!”
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Dowell; Harold Shipley, her husband, and many family and friends.
