M. Claunch Kimble

M. Betty Claunch Kimble, 93, of Liberty, MO (formerly of Lake Waukomis, MO) died on January 18, 2016. She was born on October 2, 1922, to Alva & Marie (Wolf) Claunch in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City, MO in 1939. She married Dewey M. (Don) Kimble on January 25, 1941.
Betty was a woman of great faith. She was an active member of Independence Avenue Baptist Church, Independence Boulevard Christian Church, Park Hill Christian Church and New Song Church. She was a faithful member of her church choirs, taught children’s Sunday School classes and was the first female Elder and then Elder Emeritus at Independence Boulevard Christian Church. Betty enjoyed her Christian Women’s Fellowship and Young at Heart groups at these churches. She was Secretary and Education Director for many years at Independence Boulevard Christian Church and was the Graduation Advisor and Transcript Analyst for 22 years at Maple Woods Community College. She enthusiastically chaired the Reunion Committee for her East High School class of 1939. Betty loved flowers, especially the ones surrounding her home at Lake Waukomis. She was a gracious hostess who truly enjoyed sharing her home and patio overlooking the lake. And everyone looked forward to the dishes she prepared for potluck dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son (Dale G. Kimble), and her sister (Jewel Rose Haggard). She is survived by her son, Don L Kimble (Gina); her three granddaughters, Sonya, Dana and Anna; her daughter-in-law, Sue Kimble; her brother-in-law, Bill Kimble; her two nieces, Joyce Haggard Hon (Jerry) and Connie Kimble Rhoden and one nephew, John Haggard; and many great nieces and nephews .
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on January 23, 2016, at Park Hill Christian Church, 6601 NW 72nd Street, Kansas City, MO with visitation from 10–11 a.m. preceding the service. Graveside services will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery.
