Louise Saunders

Louise DeFoe Saunders, 90, of Kansas City, Mo passed away January 15, 2017. She was born September 30, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Cecil N. and Naomi L. (Shipman) DeFoe.
Louise grew up in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Will Rogers High School. She met her husband, Robert (Bob) L. Saunders and they were united in marriage on October 10, 1947. This union lasted 47 years before Bob’s passing in 1994. Ultimately, Louise and Bob moved to Childress, Texas and then to Dallas, TX.
During these years, Louise solidified her career as an executive secretary and bookkeeper for a number of different companies. She was a member of the Business Sorority, Beta Sigma Phi and while in Childress, dabbled in a little bit of theater. One love that Louise was very proud of was her bowling and was known for the 595 series that she bowled in the White Rock Bowl Competition in Dallas. Louise and Bob also spent time traveling and boating. The support she showed her family was prominently shown in her role as a Girl Scout Leader as well.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert (Bob) L. Saunders; sister, Joan Stark; son-in-law, Dean Henricksen and nephew, Jerry Stark.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathryn Henricksen; son, Robert E. Saunders; 5 grandchildren, Chrissy, Jason, Amber, Jeremiah, Kent; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; niece, Nancye (Rick) Calkins and nephew, Jim (Karen) Stark.
Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2017 from 1-2 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street (169 HWY & Shoal Creek Pkwy). A memorial service will follow at 2 PM at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at TerraceParkFH.com.
