Linda Marie Helton

Linda Marie Helton, 75, of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on July 21, 2023.

Linda was born on December 23, 1947, in Lawrence, Kansas to Arthur “Jake” and Reta Jacobs. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965 and the soon after began working for Sunflower Army Ammunition plant as her father’s secretary.

Linda married Kenneth Breithaupt in 1966 and later divorced. They share 3 children; Clint, Lisa, and Lori.

Linda began working at Lawrence Memorial Hospital as an executive secretary in August 1981 and continued in the Human Resources Department for the next 35 years, but her favorite job was being a mom and grandma. In her spare time, she could often be found in her garden tending to her flowers, or, showing off her talent and creativity through painting and drawing. Linda was a devoted Christian and enjoyed participating in various church activities. It was at a church gathering for singles that she met her late husband, Myrl with whom she spent 28 years together (of which 18 were as husband and wife).

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; Reta and Arthur Jacobs, husband, Myrl; and son, Shawn Helton. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Clint (Cecily) Breithaupt of Olathe, KS, Lisa (Kevin) Jones of Lawrence, KS, Lori (Hayden) Fowler of Lawrence, KS, Kimberly (Scott) Scantlin of Bradenton, FL and Brad (Misti) Helton of Grove, OK; grandchildren, Zachary, Mayte, Cheridan, Delaney, JT., Madison, Mason, Skyler, AJ, Ty, Mia and Blaike; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Dakota, and Zeppelin; sister, Connie (Kevin) Kesinger; brother, Ed (Sonja) Jacobs; Brother-in-Law, Mark (Maria) Helton and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will take place at Lawrence Heights Christian Church, 2321 Peterson Rd, Lawrence, KS 66049, on Saturday July 29th at 10:30am.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery - Lakeside Chapel on Saturday, August 5th at 10:30am, followed by the graveside service.
