Lila Marie Krupco, 71, passed away on November 3, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with stage four cancer. Born on August 30, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, Lila was the eldest of 11 children. Her family later moved to Kansas City, where she attended Wyandotte High School.
Lila's life was an adventurous journey across the United States, living on various Army bases, including Illinois, Hawaii, Louisiana, Alabama, and Kansas. A proud homemaker, she dedicated her life to her family, always making time to attend her children and grandchildren's school events and extracurricular activities.
She also found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved her dogs, Champ and Delilah, and was an avid fan of playing bingo and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
Lila is preceded in death by her parents, Warren Shurtz Sr. and Alpha (Nelson) Russell.
She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children and their families: William Krupco (Lisa Miller) of Harrison, MO; Walter Krupco and children, Kimberly, Jennifer, and Timothy Krupco, all of Granite City, IL; Robert (Stacy) Krupco and their children, Colby and Calleigh Krupco, all of Wood River, IL; and Pamela Bigham (Paul Wheeler) of Ozark, MO and children, Gabrielle Kuehnel (Timothy Albright) of Springfield, MO, Brenden Bigham, Hailee Bigham, and Austin (Natasha) Dima and great grandchildren, Emma Rinehart, Zella Dima and Dallas Dima all of Ozark, MO; siblings, Warren Shurtz Jr. of Kansas City ,MO, Terry (Deena) Shurtz of Belton, MO, Debra (Bob) Paton of Wichita, KS, Gregory Shurtz (Ronda Moore) of Wichita, KS, Rita (Steve) Swope of Belle Aire Beach, FL, Anita Paton, Creve Coeur, IL, Richard Russell Jr. of Wichita, KS, Kari (Kevin) Wood of Pekin, IL, Timothy Russell of Wichita, KS, and Clinton (Jada) Russell of Blue Springs, MO; and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home &Cemetery on Saturday, November 9, 2024, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00pm, and burial. In lieu of flowers, family recommends plants or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
