Gladstone

LeRoy "Lee" Oliver Simmons passed away on December 23, 2024. He was born in Glendale, Arizona, and spent part of his early years in Connecticut before his family settled in Kansas City, Kansas, where he graduated from high school.

From an early age, LeRoy developed a fascination with jaguars—first as an exotic pet and later as a proud owner of several Jaguar vehicles. LeRoy worked for many years at TWA where he began in the mail room, retiring as manager after 37 years of service. His lifelong passion for aviation even continued beyond work when he went on to earn his private pilot’s license and own a small aircraft.

On October 5, 1972, LeRoy married Ruth Morrow, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. LeRoy was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed solving complex mathematical equations, woodworking, and spending quality time with his family—including his cherished four-legged companions.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline Barrows Harrison, and his siblings, Frances Millsap McCracken, David Leath, Richard Leath, and Arthur Leath.

He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his son, Randall (Brenda) Simmons; his grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Simmons, Sarah (Alan) Reboli, Brad (Jessica) Simmons, and Jared (Chelsea) Simmons; and his great-grandchildren, Oliver Reboli, Emerson Simmons, Stella Simmons, and Eleanor Reboli.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home - Lakeside Chapel on Monday, December 30th at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Great Plains SPCA, 5428 Antioch Dr., Merriam, KS 66202.
