Leonard “Bud” L. Vaughn, 78, Parkville, Mo., died on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his children by his side. Bud was born July 21, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Leonard Aubry and Margaret Louise Vaughn.
Bud exhibited great dedication, loyalty, and perseverance in his professional life during his 47 years with TWA / American Airlines (1957-2004). His family has fond memories of reaping flight benefit rewards and on occasion seeing him come home from work with the heels of his shoes painted green. Bud had many interests which included being an avid motorcycle rider, golfer, snow skier, hunter, and boot scooter. Of the many reasons he will be remembered, the most prevalent was his staunch commitment to family and friends. His children were regular beneficiaries of his devoted time, sincerest love, wisdom-filled guidance, and when necessary…swift and decisive behavior reform. He set high expectations, but led by example. He demanded his children act in ways that demonstrated integrity, honesty, respect, and selflessness. He was a model father and his children are proud to have called him dad.
Bud is survived by his former wife Sue Inglish, three children, Leonard Duane Vaughn (Beverly), Donald Vaughn (Christy), Sheilah Vaughn (Jim); former wife Vickie Vaughn, two children, Travis Vaughn (Nichole), Shonda Baker (Ritchard), 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Let it be known, he adored the grandbabies.
Visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2017 from 11AM-1PM with funeral following at 1PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO. If so compelled, the family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter. Because he believed, we will see him again. We love you, dad.
