Laura Ann Harper Williamson & Emily Ann Williamson
Laura Ann Harper Williamson (42) along with unborn baby, Emily Ann Williamson, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2016 at their home in Overland Park, Kansas. Laura was born June 30, 1973 in Kansas City, MO to JoAnn Salisbury Harper and Charles Leonard Harper.
Laura grew up in southern Platte County and graduated from Park Hill High School in 1991 where she was a leader both academically and socially. She held numerous class offices throughout the four years; was a member of the band and the National Honor Society; as well as being captain of the award winning co-ed cheerleading squad. Upon graduation she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia on an academic scholarship, was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and Mortar Board. After 2 years, Laura transferred to the University of Missouri at KC where she graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration. In 2011 she completed her academic studies from Avila University with a degree in Organizational Development Psychology. Laura also earned numerous professional certifications in her field of Human Resources (MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP).
Growing up Laura loved to dance (14 years at Diane’s School of Dance), loved to be outside in nature and loved to travel. She grew up in a TWA family so travel was her way of life. For many years she traveled with her mom to locations such as Machu Picchu in Peru, Iceland, the Taj Mahal in India, and Nepal just to name a few. Her favorite place was Hawaii where she and Scott honeymooned. Laura also loved to share special experiences with her niece, Chloe. Chloe was the daughter Laura longed to have of her own.
Professionally Laura worked for several large organizations throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area—TransAmerica Life, Cerner, Security Savings Bank, US Central Federal Credit Union, Johnson County Government and most recently as a Senior Employee Relations Specialist at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Everywhere Laura worked, she made lasting friendships.
For 41 years Laura searched and waited for the man who would become the love of her life. When she met Scott, they had so much in common in their likes and dislikes. During their time together, they fell madly in love, travelled places, got pregnant, and got married in the family wedding of Laura’s dreams. Both Laura and Scott glowed with the love they shared and the future they planned for their family. Tragically the future was cut short but their love is forever.
