Laura McClendon

Laura Noel McClendon, born December 24, 1981, departed this life on November 14, 2012. She is survived by her son, Jett A. Kirkland; parents Cathy and Ben Calia, of Smithville, MO; father Butch McClendon of Spokane, WA; brother Scott McClendon (Danelle) of Liberty, MO; step-sisters, Samantha Beaven and Alexandra Calia of KCMO; grandma Glenanne Caw of KCMO; uncle Curt Caw (April) of KCMO; uncle Larry Oldham of Gladstone, MO; cousins Sashia, Amber, Aaron (Jaxon), and Selesta Caw of KCMO; nephews Tyler Peek, Heith McClendon of Liberty, MO; most special friends Jennifer Snow Knabe (Quinn) and Kalina Saunders (Nick) of Liberty, MO; and many other treasured cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by grandpa Emmett D. Caw and great-grandma Mary Oldham. In her young life, her son Jett was the highlight and joy of her life. Laura's life revolved around him and nothing was ever enough for this beautiful baby boy! She wanted so badly to make his life everything that hers wasn't and more! Laura always "mothered" everyone and could turn a frown right side up. She enjoyed doing crafts and reading. She will be greatly missed and always be in our prayers. Laura, we all love you and hope you are looking down on us and guiding us through your loss and Jett's challenges. The family wishes to express their appreciation of the outpouring of love and sympathy from the entire community. Visitation will be at Mt. Moriah at 108th & 169 Highway on Monday, Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. Laura will be laid to rest at Memorial Park in St. Joseph, MO, next to her beloved grandpa.
