Laborn "Jonesy" Lavon Jones

August 4, 1945 — July 29, 2023

On August 4, 1945, in Lebanon, Missouri, Rev. Laborn Lavern and Agnes Ada (Pitts) Jones welcomed their fifth child, Laborn Lavon. He joined his siblings, Lavelle, Janice, Paul Dean and Janell. Lavon was raised in the Baptist faith and attended church wherever his father was pastoring. He was baptized at a young age by his father.

"Jonesy" as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Lebanon High School, where he enjoyed playing baseball.

After graduation, Jonesy moved to Camdenton to work for his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Floyd Hurt, at their United Super grocery store. This work experience led him to move to Kansas City where he managed Safeway grocery stores across the city. In 1995, he bought a carpet cleaning company, and later added painting. He always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

On February 28, 1998, Jonesy married Victoria Lynn (Roberson.) Jonesy and Vicki were excited to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, earlier this year.

To say Jonesy was an avid golfer would be a gross understatement. Just ask his golfing buddies. The only sport he enjoyed as much as golf was watching Kansas City Chiefs football with Vicki. He was so proud to share his middle name with Patrick Mahomes.

Jonesy lost his battle with cancer on July 29, 2023, at his home in Branson, Missouri, six days before his 78th birthday.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Vicki of the home; a daughter; several grandchildren; a stepson; his mother-in-law; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law; an uncle; an aunt; his beloved Roxie and Charlie, and many friends. especially Mike Zagalik and Larry Giglio.

He is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie; his daughter, Amy: his parents. Rev. Lavern Jones, and Ada Jones; two brothers, Lavelle and Paul Dean Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Floyd Hurt; his sister, Janell Walters; aunt, Kay Light; uncle, Clifford Pitts and three nephews, Eddie Jones and Danny and David Hurt.

Vicki wishes to express her gratitude to Lavon's doctors and care team; to St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care, and to all of Vicki's co-workers at Cox Medical Center in Branson whose prayers, love, support, and countless delicious meals have been more appreciated than can be conveyed.

Jonesy was laid to rest at Terrace Park Cemetery on August 3, 2023.
