Kita M. Ball, 62, of Kansas City, Mo passed away February 11, 2016. Memorial services are 6:30 pm Thursday February 18th at Terrace Park Funeral Home (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek Parkway), with visitation 5:00 – 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cancer Research Center, Columbia, Mo or Random Acts, www.randomacts.org.
As a sixteen year survivor of colon cancer, Kita was faced with many health challenges and her quality of life was never the same after surgery and cancer treatment in 2000. But she was devoted to her daughter and that was her life. Kita was born June 10, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up and attended school in Nashville, Tennessee where her Mother was born and raised. Kita relocated to Kansas City in 1996 to live close to her Sister and her Mother. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Lola M. Thompson, Brother, Jessie R. Ball, Sister, Dixie D. Hilliard, Nephew, Brian Hilliard, and her beloved Maternal Grandmother, Ruby L. Smith. Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Allison Giles, sisters, Mickey (Bernie) Vulgamott, Janice (Steve) Ford, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
