Kevin Patrick Denton

Kevin P. Denton passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, October 28th, at his home with his loving wife and treasured dogs at his side.

Kevin was born on November 11th, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the early 60s, the family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he grew up playing baseball, earning his pilot's license by 16, competing in skeet, building crystal radio sets with his father and following his beloved University of Oklahoma Sooners football team. He graduated from Putnam City High School in 1972 after leading its marching band as drum major his senior year. He retired in 2021 after a career in Information Technology.

Kevin had a great many passions in his life. He loved the science of weather, training and participating as a storm spotter, he loved flying, he was involved in ham radio, had a lifetime love of music, enjoyed technology of any kind and, always, his passion for sports of all kinds. He took great joy in attending Royals and Sporting KC games with his wife and friends and texting color commentary on Sooners games to his sister Katy.

Above all was his love for his family. He treasured his daughter and grandsons, loved his son-in-law and was devoted to his sisters. He proudly celebrated the life milestones of his nieces and nephews. His kindness and optimism will be sorely missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 21 years, Deborah; daughter and husband Jennifer and Justin Driscoll; grandsons Alexander and Benjamin Burr; sister and husband Karen and David Beard of Abilene, Texas; sister Trisha Schultheis of Oklahoma City, as well as his many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents M.L. and Jean Denton and his beloved cousin Phil Denton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Harvesters Community Food Network or Great Plains SPCA in his honor.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday November 13th in the chapel at Terrace Park Funeral Home 801 Northwest 108th Street (Shoal Creek Pwky), Kansas City MO 64155.
