Kenneth Ritchey

Kenneth Scott Ritchey, 71, of Parkville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on October 12, 1944 to Captain Kenneth Ira and Mary Lou Ritchey at Fort Devens Military Hospital in Leominster, Massachusetts.

Scott is a graduate of Caney Kansas High School, Independence Missouri Community College (A.A.), Wichita State University (B.S.), and earned a Master of Science Degree from the University of Kansas. Scott served for 37 years in the Region 7 Environmental Protection Agency as a Class A wastewater treatment operator providing direct assistance at wastewater treatment facilities.  Scott was extremely proud of his contribution to environmental protection in the Midwest. He worked in the Hazardous Waste Program planning and coordinating the destruction of dioxin wastes in Missouri and served on negotiating teams concerning hazardous wastes. Scott oversaw industrial clients' removal of spilled solvents through the implementation of Federal orders. Scott played golf on the Caney, Independence Community College, Wichita State (lettered 3 years) and Fort Mead golf teams. Scott served in the United States Army for 2 years. He participated in the Boy Scouts of America program for 18 years at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church and guided both sons to Eagle rank. Scott earned Scouting's Wood Badge and is a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say. In retirement Scott enjoyed archery, firearm target shooting, gardening landscaping, woodworking, golfing, Harley and ATV Riding.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Ann, two sons, William Allen Ritchey of Jasper, Alabama and John Kenneth Ritchey of Maui, Hawaii. John is married to Kinga Ritchey and has a daughter Jessica and has two step-daughters Jasmine and Mira Clayton all of Maui. Scott is also survived by his mother Mary Lou Casement Euler and his brother Kurtis Ira Ritchey of Lansing, Kansas, including Kurtis' wife Carrie and their children Kylie, Kara and Kenneth Ira. Scott's father, Kenneth Ira Ritchey predeceased him.
