M. Kenneth Lourwood, son of the late Melbern Pearl and Lavelle (Garvin) Lourwood, was born on June 7, 1937 in Darrouzett, Texas and departed this life on January 29, 2019 in Overland Park, Kansas. At the time of his passing he was 81 years of age.
Ken was raised in Portland, Oregon during his early years and later moved to Missoula, Montana where he graduated from High School. After graduation he continued his career in the National Guard. While serving in the National Guard he owned a service station, attended community college in Bismarck and later Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma. In Missoula, Montana he met Jean Figg and they were later united in marriage on September 1, 1961. Together they moved to several different cities before finally settling in Kansas City, Missouri. They enjoyed traveling and serving the ministry through mission trips to several different countries. He loved to BBQ, watch eagles and spent a lot of time touring multiple places. He was a very active member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene.
Ken was preceded in passing by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Lourwood; two children, Kenny (Jenny) Lourwood and Stefanie (Andrew) Hurley; two siblings, Glenn (Patty) Camp and Dorleen (Phil) Bakke; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his four legged companion, Sparky. He also leaves behind several friends who will all truly miss him.
