Keith Crider

Keith Raymond Crider, 80, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the NorthCare Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Keith was born February 13, 1933 in Montezuma, Iowa to Louis and Lena Crider. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1951 and attended Iowa State University. Keith left college and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1956. He married Shirley Jean Barber in 1953. Following his time in the Navy, Keith was employed at AT&T as an assistant engineer for 33 years before retiring in 1989. Keith's community involvement included: Kiwanis Club President, American Legion member, Y's Men Club, Iowa High School football official, active member of the Gashland United Methodist Church, and Young at Heart Group. Keith's hobbies included: playing bridge, cross-word puzzles, and golf. As an avid sports fan, Keith enjoyed following the Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas City Royals, and his beloved Chicago Cubs. Keith looked forward to the frequent gatherings of his AT&T buddies for coffee at the Corner Café.  Above all, Keith enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lena Crider, brother Donald, brother Maynard, sister Vada, sister Arlene, and sister Maxine.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Crider; son, Randy Crider; daughter Janet Euritt and husband Darrell; son Ron Crider; Daughter in law, Michelle Crider; sister Phyllis Sanders; grandchildren, Lynn Galloway, Lisa Crider, Olivia Crider, and Hayden Crider; great granddaughter, Layna Galloway; as well as nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
