Kathy Carpenter

Kathy D. (Ebbert) Carpenter, 56, passed away January 20, 2014 at St. Luke's Northland of complications arising from her 4 year battle with breast cancer. Visitation will be 5 to 7pm, Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Chapel, located at 801 Northwest 108th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64155. Condolences may be left at www.mountmoriahterracepark.com Kathy was born May 14, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas to John D. and Ruth G. Ebbert. As a child, her dad was frequently transferred in positions with Montgomery Ward, with stops in Austin, Amarillo and Arlington in Texas, as well as Denver. Ultimately, a stop in Kansas City Northland resulted in Kathy graduating from Oak Park High School. She remained a Northlander for the remainder of her life. Immediately after high school, she began a career in International Banking, which she continued until she was forced into disability due to her cancer. This included banks such as Columbia Union, Centerre, Bank of America, Commerce and, finally, UMB Bank, where she served as a Vice-President. To say she enjoyed and was dedicated to her work is an understatement. In 1981 she married Michael K. Carpenter who is also of the Kansas City area. Ashley M. arrived in 1984 and Geoffrey S. in 1987. Survivors include her children Geoff and Ashley and son-in-law, Sean Iles; grandchildren, Pierce A. Iles and Cali M. Iles. Also surviving are her mother, Ruth G. Ebbert, sister, Karen Ebbert, both of Kansas City and brother, Curt Ebbert and his wife, Mary, of Mt. Airy, Maryland. The family requests no flowers and that donations be made to either the
