Kathryn Louise DeMeyer-McMickell, 71, of Kansas City, Mo and Laurie, MO passed away February 25, 2010 at home in Kansas City after a short battle with kidney cancer. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am Monday March 1st at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Rd, Liberty, MO. Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, with the rosary at 6:00 pm at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice.Kay was born September 19, 1938 in Moline, Ill. Kay graduated from Alleman High School in 1956 in Moline, Ill. She married Lou DeMeyer in 1958 and had 5 children. The family moved to Kansas City in 1974. She enjoyed life in KC as well as the Lake of the Ozarks. Lou passed away in 1997. Kay was lucky to find a second love in Bob McMickell, and they married in 2001. Bob and Kay enjoyed their time between KC and the lake. Kay was known for her outgoing wit, humor and was always the life of the party. We will always remember and cherish how much our devoted Mom and Grandma loved having family and friends around.She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Peg Horton, sister in law, Pat Goodrum, and first husband, Lou DeMeyer. Survivors include her husband, Bob McMickell, sons, Steve, Dave (Andrea), Ron (Jennie), daughters, Karen (Ron) Osborn, Kris (Scott) Modica, and 13 grandkids.
