Karel R. Barry, age 82 of Kansas City, MO., died peacefully November 14, 2024 at Hospice House of North Kansas City, with his family by his side. A graveside service will take place at Terrace Park Cemetery, 801 NW 108th St., Kansas City, MO on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials to City Union Mission, P.O Box 270107, Kansas City, MO 64127
Karel was born at Smith Center, KS on February 6, 1942, to Emmett and Gertrude Kirchenschlager Barry. He graduated from Smith Center High School and Brown Mackie College, Salina, KS. He was married to Wilma Kuehn on June 21, 1969. He was known for his love of family and service to others. His faith was the most important part of his life. His accounting career started with Grain Cooperatives in Chase and Russell, KS, and was later employed by FarMarCo, Heartland Data Services, One System Group, all in Hutchinson, KS. In 2003 he concluded 34 years of employment under the umbrella of Farmland Industries with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in Kansas City, MO. He served six years in the Kansas Air National Guard in Hutchinson and Topeka. He attended and was active in volunteer service at Northland Cathedral, served on the board of his Homes Association, and spent many years volunteering with his wife at St. Luke's North Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane and Roger Dean; and sisters JoAnn Foster, Norma Claycomb and twin sister Karen Teahon. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; a son, Bryan of Kansas City, MO.; sister-in-law, Donna Barry of Laguna Hills, CA; brother-in-law, Roger Foster of Republican City, NE.; and his wife's brother, Seth Kuehn of Boerne, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wilma and Bryan wish to express their deepest appreciation to Barry Road St. Lukes Hospital, staff and volunteers for the amazing support during the years of volunteering and especially during the end of life journey. Hospice House in North Kansas City will forever have our gratitude for the excellent care of Karel and the family.
