(Doris) June Porter, 89, of Kansas City, MO died on August 12, 2017. She was born on July 20, 1928 in Kearney, MO – the eighth of Reed and Louedia (Hall) Creason’s thirteen children. After attending North Kansas City High School, she married William “Bill” Porter in 1948. They were married until his death in 2002 and raised twin boys, Steven and Roger.
June was opinionated, intelligent, thoughtful, generous, hardworking, and always impeccably put together. She was a model and enjoyed a 34-year successful career at Mercantile Bank. In 1959, she was voted “Miss Drive-In Teller” at the American Bankers Association Convention. She was awarded the Business and Professional Woman of the Year in 1989 by the Northland Business and Professional Women’s Club of Kansas City, MO. In recent years, she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hatters Society and the North Kansas City Historical Society.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law – Roger and Barbara Porter of Kansas City, MO and Steven and Brenda Porter of Kansas City, MO; her brother, Jim Creason of Lake Havasu City, AZ and sister, Joy Logston of Independence, MO; her six grandchildren – Stephanie, Clay, Tucker, Kathleen, Preston, and Bernadette; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 20 at Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be at 1 pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm. Burial will be Tuesday, August 22 at 2 pm in Fairview Cemetery, Kearney, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Imeson Park, 7305 NW Prairie View Rd, Platte Woods, MO 64151.
