Judith "Judy" Diane King, 78, of Trimble, Missouri, passed away on September 14, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1946, to Bernley and Betty King. From an early age, her outgoing and vivacious personality made her a beloved member of her community. Judy was a graduate of Northeast High School. During her time there, she was a member of the cheerleading team, the Delta Literature Society, and was also crowned Homecoming Queen not once, but twice—during both her freshman and senior years of high school.
Judy began her career in accounting, but her love for learning and caring for others led her to a bold career change at age 40. She returned to school to earn her master’s degree in nursing from Graceland College of Nursing in Independence, Missouri. Afterward, she worked for Truman Medical Center and Research Psychiatric Center, dedicating herself to teaching the next generation of nurses.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judy’s personal life was just as vibrant. She was the heart of her family, always hosting holidays, slumber parties, and get-togethers. Her home was a warm and welcoming space, full of laughter, love, and good times.
A devoted animal lover, Judy channeled her love for dogs into opening a Yorkie rescue mission from her home. People traveled from all over the country to adopt her beloved Yorkies, and Judy always extended her hospitality by welcoming them to stay the night before their journey back. She even took on side jobs to ensure every dog’s medical needs were met.
Judy lived her life with enthusiasm and generosity. With her strong, independent spirit she approached everything she did with both excess and success.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and great niece, Alayna Robin Shelley. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her sons, Colin (Eve) Lindsey, Kevin (Jennifer) Lindsey, and Sean (Maria) Lindsey; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Peggy (Gerald) Crawford, Linda, (Jerry) Mook, Ron (Cindy) King , Frances (Jack) Milligan; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Family has requested no flowers.
