Juanita McKinney

October 4, 1926 — March 2, 2015

Juanita M. McKinney, 88, of Kansas City, MO, died at New Mark Care Center on Monday, March 2, 2015.  She was born in Hazelton, Kansas on October 4, 1926 to the late Horace N. and Grace (Ungles) Bessey.

Juanita married Paul McKinney on October 31, 1944.  She worked for the North Kansas City Schools in food service for 27 years. As their family grew they added onto the house to accommodate their three children, she ruled with an iron fist at home but always with love.  After retiring, she and her husband Paul enjoyed car trips—traveling mostly to their place at the Lake of the Ozarks, and to many of the Southwest states.  The family remembers well arriving on a Friday night in the Ozarks to the welcoming smell of homemade fudge and cinnamon rolls; a taste that no one in the family has been able to duplicate.

Juanita is survived by her son’s Steve (Vicky) McKinney and Stan (Phyllis) McKinney and her favorite daughter Tonya (Jeff) McCall.  Grandchildren Michelle McKinney, Elizabeth Tobias, Mitch McCall, Jenna McCall, Matt McCall, Kiel McCall. Great-grandchildren Garrett Gilbert and Cade Tobias.

In addition to her parents Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Paul who died in 2013 and her siblings and other extended family members.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 10 AM until time of Service at 11 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home’s Lakeside Chapel; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO.
