Joyce Hayes

Joyce Marie Hayes, 73, of Kansas City, MO passed away on July 31, 2021. Joyce was born on January 31, 1948 in Kansas City to Thomas “Woody” and Olive Robertson. She met her ex-husband, Jim, while they were working at Farmland Industries, and married in 1969.  They both went on to work for his family’s restaurant, Hayes Hamburgers, and branched off to their own location where she worked into the early 1980’s. Joyce then spent a short time working in banking until 1983.  She then moved on to Arrow Forklift (Material Handling), where she spent the next 33 years working until retirement.  Joyce worked hard all of her life, but more importantly, touched a lot of lives along the way. She was very generous and caring, and would even buy and carry Milk Bones just incase she would see a neighbors dog outside. She was also known to always fight for the check at dinner and wouldn’t let anyone reciprocate if she paid last. Joyce was competitive at games and enjoyed bowling, card playing, and board games whenever the holidays rolled around.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Olive Robertson; sister, Mary Jo Selby; and brother, Thomas S. Robertson and is survived by many extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.  A celebration of life will be announced at a future date.
