Joyce Evelyn Englund died peacefully on March 28, 2015 surrounded by family at Ashton Court in Liberty. Joyce was born on March 12, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN the 6th of 10 children of Jacob and Ethel Laudert. She married Charles Englund on May 25, 1946.
And she raised two children (Terry and Kevin) and many foster children in Minneapolis, followed by a brief time in Lombard, IL. Moved to Gladstone, MO in 1964 where their third child (Melissa) was later born.
As a member of St. Charles Catholic Church for over 50 year, Joyce started the first kindergarten in 1977 later becoming the school counselor until full retirement in 2012. Joyce was also active in Women in Ministry and as a Director of the School of Religion for many years.
Joyce is survived by her husband Charles, children Terrill Anne (Alan) Nichols of Ozark, MO, Kevin Englund (Bonnie Leigh) of Liberty, and Melissa Englund of Lansdowne, PA. Grandchildren Dawn “Casey” (James) Pitts, Richard C. Leigh and Rhonda Weston. Great Grandchildren Alexandra (Chris) Holly, Rachel Pitts, Jordan Pitts, Karis Eliese Pitts, Quintin Pitts, Richard B Leigh, Amber Leigh, Baylee O’Malley, Jaycek Weston. Great-Great Grandchildren Joshua Holly, Mackenzie Leigh, Ashlynn Leigh. Sister Terrill Jean Kloyda and many nieces, nephews, friends, and former students. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1 at 11a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery.
