John Simmons, 85, of Smithville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at home in the presence of his loving family. He was born on June 30, 1931 in Rochester, MN to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Griffin) Simmons.
He was the former owner of Chroma Graphics, which had three locations throughout the Midwest; he enjoyed golf, gardening, woodworking and was an amazing chef. He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute after proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning his Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. His most cherished times were those spent with family and friends and when he could lend a helping hand to someone.
John was the loving husband of Emma (Beachy) Simmons, dad and step-dad to Michelle Stoller, Marie Romey, Scott Rediger and Alex Rediger; cherished grandpa of 12; dear brother of Bette Thompson, Barbara Moen, Patrick Simmons, Michael Simmons and the late William Simmons.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11 AM with a gathering of friends beginning at 10 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Smithville, MO, 18601 N. 169 HWY Inurnment will be at 2:30 on Saturday, in Terrace Park Cemetery.
