John A. Roades, 73, of Kansas City, MO died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at NorthCare Hospice House. He was born August 23, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to the late Harry Eugene and Mary Margaret (Bersuch) Roades.
John worked at TWA for 40 years and 3 years for American Airlines where he retired from. Before the airlines, John met his wife Joyce at Modern Handcraft where they both worked. They were married August 29, 1964 in Fontana, Kansas. John was a family man and his family meant the world to him. He was even family to those who were not his blood and this was apparent by the families that also called him Dad and Grandpa. John went to all of his grandchildren’s sporting and school events and could often be found sitting around telling stories to them.
In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by 1 half-brother.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Roades of almost 52 years; 2 children, Tracy (Web) Bixby, Phillip (Jennifer) Roades; 4 grandchildren, Dylan and Tyler Roades, Jonathan and Justin Morris; 1 sister, Kathy (Larry) Souza; 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 12-1 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment in Terrace Park Cemetery.
