John Kieffer III

John James Kieffer III, 80, Kansas City, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015. John was born September 24, 1934 in Duncan, OK, to John and Jimmie Kieffer. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 58 years, his sister Linda (Larry) Lambert, and his daughters, Pamela (Kent) Thomas, Kathy (Terry) Liles, and Sandra Wendel. John was especially proud of his grandchildren, Lauren (Ryan) Simmons, Tanner Wendel, Mikaela Wendel, and Grace Liles. John grew up in Prairie Village, KS, graduated from Shawnee Mission High School and then attended K-State and KU. His lifelong love of aviation started at an early age and lead to a long and distinguished career as a Captain with TWA. Following retirement from TWA he continued flying European routes for KLM. John was known to all for his kind and helpful spirit and will be greatly missed by his loving family. Private services and burial. Family suggests donations to The Salvation Army.
