JE Sheppard, son of the late Charles & Bessie Mae (Brantley) Sheppard, was born on March 13, 1928 and departed this life on July 22, 2019. At the time of his passing he was 91 years of age.

Jim was born and raised in Wheeler County, Georgia where he attended and graduated from High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served during WWII.  After returning home from the war he was in Athens, Georgia where he attended the University of Georgia. While attending college he met Frances Woods and they were later united in marriage on September 15, 1955. Together they raised two children and lived in several different cities during his career. Around the year 1970 the family settled in Kansas City, Missouri while Jim worked as an accountant for the Federal Government. Jim was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of North Kansas City for over fifty years. While serving in the church, he was very active in the “Church on the Porch” ministry cooking hot dogs on Tuesday evenings during the summer. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and golfing.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; two siblings, Charles B. Sheppard and Mrytice Hinson; and one son-in-law, Dennis Blanchard. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Sheppard; two children, Freda (Douglas) Brown and Diane Blanchard; one sister, Sara Mae Jones; three grandchildren, Natalie (Ross) Crouch, Dustin Blanchard and Kody Brown; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Makenna Crouch.
