Jewell Wallace McFerrin of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away peacefully in her home February 20, 2025.

Jewell the oldest daughter of Omer and Thelma Miller, was born August 13,1931. Near Shawnee Mound, Missouri.

She spent her growing up years in Henry County, Missouri. Jewell attended elementary school in Shawnee Mound. She then attended Hortense where she graduated from 8th grade. Jewell then went on to graduate high school from Clinton High in 1949. She attended C.M.S.U where she earned a teaching certificate and taught school in both Henry and Johnson County in Missouri.

On December 25, 1952, Jewell was united in marriage to Edgar McFerrin at the Brother’s Church. They were friends and companions for 66 years. Jewell and Edgar moved from Clinton N. Henry County to Kansas City in 1956. Then to Gladstone, Missouri where they spent most of her life. A daughter was born to Thelma and Edgar, in April of 1959, Cynthia Louise and then a son Wesley Jule in March of 1961.

Jewell worked for both Boston- Old Colony Insurance, and Commercial Union Insurance. She then went on to work for the Jones Store Co. in Kansas City Missouri.

Jewell is preceded in death by her parents Omer and Thelma Miller; her husband, Edgar McFerrin; son Westley McFerrin; sister Vera Brown; and brother, Gerald Wallace.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Temaat; sister, Pearl Bird; Nephews, Brian Bird and Bryce Wallace; and niece Blythe de Leon. As well as many other family members and dear friends.

Jewell will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
