Jewell C. Collins, 86, of Kearney, MO passed away December 1, 2016. He was born May 14, 1930 in Braymer, MO to the late Rolla Carl and Julia (Davis) Collins.
Mumbles, as he was known to his friends, enjoyed many years square dancing with his wife of 64 years, JoAnn, who passed away July 5, 2016. He proudly served in the U.S. Army; and retired from the postal service where he worked as a mail carrier.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Jan (Jay) Hesby, Judy (Rick) Jurgens, Jackie (Dannie) Scobee; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Robin), Jonathan (Rozelyn), Sara (Jerry), Matthew (Tina), Amy (Corey), Kevin (Sara), Meredith and 14 great-grandchildren, Eric, Jace, Allison, Gage, Rachel, Morgan, Emma, Alex, Aaley, Logan, Parker, Alaina, Emerson and Reese. Sisters Laura Nell Johnson and Velma Ann Avery.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Jewell is preceded in death by his sister Nadine Ruth Christian.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10-10:30 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Service will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
