Minnie Jewel Baxter of Kansas City, MO passed away the morning of April 7, 2017. She was 86 years old. Jewel was born in Protem, Missouri on July 24, 1930 to Walter and Ethel Long.
Jewel and Bobby Baxter were married on March 10, 1961 and just celebrated their 56th anniversary.
Jewel was an avid seamstress and accomplished quilter having made many clothing items and quilts for her family. She loved cooking for her family and also loved collecting dolls and tea cups and saucers.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years and five children; Kay McPheeters and husband Eugene; David Baxter and wife Carole; Danny Baxter and wife Vicki; Tim Baxter; Pam and husband Walter Shoup.
She also leaves behind ten grandchildren; Julie, Mike, Kristine, Crystal, Jessie, Lauren, Sarah, Lindsay, Anna and Avery as well as twelve great grandchildren; Cheyenne, Joey, Skylar, Kruise; Elliott; Ben, Josh, Jacob, Nate; Claire, David and Daniel.
Jewel had five brothers; Junior, Leo, Bill, Francis all preceded her in death. She leaves behind one brother, Lonnie and one sister, Maxine.
She leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed!
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 1:00 PM with Funeral Services immediately following at 2:00 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery, Garden of Honors. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to Charity of your choice.
