Jesse McCollum
12-14-1935 – 7-21-2014
Jesse was born in Brookfield, Missouri on December 14, 1935. He was the oldest of eight children. He lived on Brookfield until joining the U.S. Army in October 1958. He served as the head Mechanic for his base in Munich. In August of 1962, he married the love of his life, LaVonna Donnen Johnson, or most of you know her as Donna or Nanny. There were told in the beginning that it would never work but no one knew the love they shared.
They started their family in 1963 with the birth of their oldest of three sons. Always into cars and motorcycles, Jesse began racing bikes with his family through the 60s and 70s, racking up numerous season and state championships. Racing was his life and he was more than willing to share his stories and knowledge with anyone willing to sit and learn.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonna, of the home; his three sons, Joseph, Lawrence and Jesse and his wife, Bethany; grandchildren, Jason, Kiley, Shelby and Jacob and numerous other family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memorial service will be 2pm, Saturday, July 26th at Terrace Park Funeral Home Chapel with visitation one hour prior.
(Chapel is located at Shoal Creek Parkway and Hwy 169)
