Jerry Shields

Arthur Gerald Shields, 75, passed away on January 13, 2020.

Jerry was born on February 20, 1944 in North Kansas City, MO to Arthur and Leona Shields. He married his wife, Roberta “Bertie” Campbell, on July 16, 1966. Jerry worked in construction for a short time before beginning his career as a truck driver for Ben Rose Septic Tank Cleaning. When Jerry wasn’t hard at work he enjoyed tinkering with mechanics, putting together puzzles, and tending to his impressive garden where he grew a variety of vegetables, including giant pumpkins, but most important to him was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Shields; baby sister, Patti Shields; and his infant grandchild. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Roberta Shields; children, Barbie Shields, Eugene Shields, and Tiffany Commons; grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Teresa, Zachariah, Clifton, Cameron, Trenton and Preston; three great grandchildren; and siblings, James Shields and Bonnie Nelson.

A celebration of life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th at 2:00pm, with a visitation beginning at 1:00pm, and burial following.
