Jeanette Agnes Thomas, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away January 22, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. Jeanette was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Tipton, Mo., the daughter of Leo and Leoba Knipp. She is survived by daughter, Theresa Flinn and husband Dennis Flinn of Defiance, Mo.; her daughter, Laura Gerdes, and grandchildren Caitlyn and Ethan Gerdes of Gladstone, Mo.; son, Nathan Thomas and wife Jennifer Kempema and grandson Jonas Thomas of Kansas City; brother, Donald Knipp and his wife Marge, of Lees Summit; Mary Carter and her husband Jim of Independence; Ralph Knipp and his wife Nancy, of Jefferson City, Mo. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their families, and all of those who called her mom, Jeanetta, or awesome. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Harold Thomas, and her parents. Jeanette was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Beta Lambda Master Sorority, and volunteered in service to others at Shepard's Center.
