James "Jim" Emory Olson, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim was born on November 6, 1928, to the loving home of Emory and Florence “Ruth” Olson in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jim grew up in Kansas City, MO graduating from East High School. After High School he served in the United States Army as a Sergeant, and he was stationed in Japan. He owned a couple of businesses during his professional career. He owned a small grocery store in Kansas City and later a Western Auto Store in Excelsior Springs, Missouri which he ran with Mary's help. He also worked at several hardware stores and worked a job well into his 80's.
Jim loved the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and was a faithful fan win or lose. He loved classical music, Agatha Christie novels, and a good game of Scrabble (he usually won). He was a man of faith and integrity, and he leaves behind a godly legacy for his family.
He was a current member of Life Bridge Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. He was a former member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs, MO. He served as a Sunday school teacher, church training director, and deacon. He was also the former pastor of Prathersville Bible Church in Prathersville, MO.
Jim adored his wife Mary who he married on August 15, 1957, and he treasured the time spent with his family. But more than anything he loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart, and he wanted everyone else to know his Savior. We rejoice when he closed his eyes for the final time on this earth, he opened them in heaven and looked into the face of Jesus.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
