James Patrick “Pat” Shea, 65, of Trimble, Missouri, passed away December 16, 2019 at his home. He was born on November 14, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Franklin and Jean Shea. Pat was a 1973 graduate of Lafayette High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Missouri Western State University.
Pat was a member of the U. S. Navy, working as a Deep Sea Salvage Diver from 1974-1978. Around that same time, beginning in 1975, he became a member of the St. Joseph Missouri Police Department before joining the Kansas City Missouri Police Department in 1985, where he stayed until 2011. During his tenure with KCPD, Pat worked Patrol, Robbery/Homicide, the Drug Enforcement Unit (Undercover Street Narcotics), DEA Task Force, and with the Helicopter Unit as a pilot. From 2011 to 2017, he was an EMS Helicopter Pilot.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Jean Shea; three sons in infancy: James, Patrick, and Ryan Shea; son, Philip Pirnie, and a sister, Donna Minton. He is survived by his wife, Mary Shea; daughter, Jonna Wilcox (Brandon); grandchildren: Riley, Lily, and Everett; sister, Erin Strack (Buddy) of Poplar Bluff, MO; brothers, Dennis Shea of St. Joseph, MO and Mike Shea (Ching) of Kansas City, MO; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.
