James “Jim” C. Orr, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at North Care Hospice. Jim was born March 26, 1948, to Tom and Glenna (Stovall) Orr, in North Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Park Hill High School in 1966, and received his bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri. He served 2 years in the Army Reserves. On July 1, 1986 he married Carole Bordeaux. He spent most of his career in sales, including QuikTrip, Nebraska Furniture Mart, managing a Foot Locker, and held the title as the National Salesperson of the Year for Best Buy for two years. He also owned a rent-to-own store in Gallatin, MO. In his free time Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading, movies, spending time in his garden, and traveling. He and Carole took many trips to South Dakota, and also many cruises. Jim was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan, and also his beloved Mizzou Tigers. Jim was someone that could talk to anyone, and never knew a stranger.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tommy, and his sister, Jean “Tancy” Powell.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, children; Wendy (Jon) Flanagan of Sacremento, CA, Carolyn (Tom) McShannon, of Kansas City, MO, John (Debbi) Sparks, of Raymore, MO, three siblings; Glenn (Marie) Orr, of Kansas City, MO, Ed (Tresa) Orr, of Kansas City, MO, and Patricia (Doug) Crews, of Columbia, MO. Also surviving grandchildren are; Clayton and Courtney McShannon, JJ Flanagan, and Landry, Jenna, and Lucy Sparks and many nieces and nephews. His beloved dog Charlie is also left to miss him.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral Services on Monday at 11:00 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to the Northland Cathedral Church, KC Pet Project, or North Care Hospice.
