James McHugh

November 14, 1942 — April 26, 2015

Jim McHugh, 72, of Liberty, MO, was lifted to Heaven on April 26, 2015.
He was born in Hannibal, MO, on November 14, 1942, the son of John McHugh and Imogene McHugh, and the stepson of Henry Ransdell.
He graduated from Hannibal High School, and received his BA in mathematics at the University of Missouri Rolla, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.  He later received his Masters Degree in Statistics at the University of Missouri Columbia.
Jim had a successful career at Hallmark Cards for 31 years.  He took pride in his work, and was a loyal manager, mentor and friend to all who were blessed to work with him.  He served on the Board of the Kansas City Academy and on the Marketing Department Advisory Boards at both the University of Georgia and University of Missouri-Columbia; he was also a member of the Mizzou Alumni Association.
He was active in his community and his church. Jim had a great love of crossword puzzles, fishing, boating, the Mizzou Tigers, and traveling the world with his fiancé, Pat.  He loved his friends and family and was always ready to lend a "helping hand."  He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John McHugh, Imogene and Henry Ransdell, his wife Shirley, sister-in-law Claudia McHugh and grandson Tyler Arnold.
He is survived by his fiancé Pat Holmstrom; brother Alan McHugh (Jackie); and three children Patrick McHugh (Marsha), Eric McHugh (Amy), Danielle Henley (Tom); three stepchildren Arlie Arnold (Terrie), Kermit Arnold (Sandy) and Machelle Quick (Mike). Also, ten grandchildren Ian and Aidan McHugh, Corina and Savonne Henley; Trevor Arnold (Sara); Trey Arnold; Olin Tannery, Jack Arnold (Leslie); Lucas and Cole Quick; and three great grandchildren Jace Krasowski, Gabriel Arnold and Olin Tannery Jr.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at Terrace Park Funeral Home (formerly Mount Moriah) at 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO, with visitation from 11:00 to 1:00, a Celebration of Life Service starting at 1:00 and burial immediately following at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Cancer Research Center in Columbia, MO or the Kansas City Academy. “God bless you real good!”
