James "Jim" Benjamin McCarty

James “Jim” Benjamin McCarty, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on August 24, 2023.

 

Jim was born August 13, 1929 in Clinton, Tennessee. He was the youngest of ten children born to Floyd and Julie McCarty. Jim joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1951 to 1953. Shortly after his honorable discharge he met and married Marie Sharp and from this marriage they were blessed with two children. He took a job at TWA in Kansas City, and soon after his family followed suit. He had a long and successful career as an avionic technician until he retired after 27 years of service. His employment at TWA made it possible for him to travel all across the United States with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

 

Jim is preceded by his parents and  siblings. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Marie; children, Ken (Susan) McCarty and Myra Doss; grandchildren, Evan, Tim, Chandra, Kendra, Brian, Jenny, Nathan, and Kylee; great grandchildren, Taylor, Carter, and Selah; and numerous extended family and friends.

 

Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Monday, August 28th, with visitation at 9am, funeral service at 10am, and burial following.
