Jimmy Higgins, 61, a proud resident of Riverside, MO—in Southern Platte County-- died at his home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born February 6, 1953, in Kansas City, to the late J.C. and Beverly Higgins Sr.
Jimmy had an electrifying job as a member of the IBEW local 124— and then decided to hit the books as the owner of Books By the Handful, where he purchased and sold textbooks. He enjoyed taking his eight amazing children and seven grandchildren (who he spoiled and loved on all the time) to area parks and making sure each one experienced all God has to offer in his landscape, that they felt special and loved. He was also a member of the Harmony Vineyard Church.
Jimmy is the loving dad of Carolina (Joe) Shirley, Mary (Brian) Steinle, Sarah, Lydia, Chase III and Katie Higgins and dear step-dad of Rachel (the late Myron) Brimm and Josh Vanderslice. Cherished granddad of Zion, Nate, Amaya, Olivia, Nina, Madalyn and Lillian; dear brother of John (Kim) Higgins, Patricia Laswell, Laurie (Hazel Dunn) Higgins, Michelle (Jay) Littleton, the late Bobby (Vickie Phillips Surviving) Higgins and Rod Evans. Also surviving are his former wives Brenda Higgins and Suzie Brown; he is the beloved cousin of Noel, Greg and the late Mark Gerlach.
