James Chaney, 84 of Kansas City, died at home on December 31, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born in Hico, Texas on March 13, 1930 to the late James and Ora Chaney.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years; serving during both Korea and Vietnam; he earned several commendations including First Oak Leaf Cluster to National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Clasp, Bronze with 4 loops, Army Occupation Medal (Japan) and the Purple Heart.
He was the loving husband of Edwina Chaney, father of Joe (Lora) Chaney, Dianna (Mike) Cox and Angela (Aaron) Bossert; grandpa of Evan (Jamie) Chaney, Steven (Teighlor) Chaney, Tracey (Ronnie) Murphy, Pamela (Jason) Pharr and Poppy to Sara Grace Bossert; great-grandfather of Ricky, Adam, Samantha, Heather and Sally. Brother of De (James) Cassle, JoAnn (the Late Dalton) Davis and Robbie Chaney. He is preceded by his siblings Bruce Chaney, Connie Todd and Frank Chaney. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A memorial gathering will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4 PM until time of service at 5 PM, with Pastor Nathan Edwards officiating, at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th Street, (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek), Kansas City.
