James Brewer

February 26, 1949 — April 2, 2017

James “Jim” Raymond Brewer, 68, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017.  He was born on February 26, 1949 in Butler, MO to George and Ruth (Gorsline) Brewer. Jim grew up in Rich Hill, MO and graduated from Rich Hill High School.  He moved to Kansas City in 1967 where he worked for Hallmark Cards for 46 years until retirement in 2013.  He married his wife Debra “Debbie” (Elder) on November 20th, 1999 in Kansas City MO.  Between them they had 3 children.
Jim’s favorite things to do, when he was not working, were spending time at the lake house with the kids and grandkids, fishing, boating and riding the ATV’s; going with his brother-in-law and family on ATV trips to Utah and Arkansas and attending swap meets. He also enjoyed travel and had traveled to Italy, Jamaica, Canada, London, Amsterdam, Mexico and Belize as well as several places in the USA, his favorite being Hawaii.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Debra; son, Brian and wife Becky, of Sibley, MO; daughter, Kristie Sanders and husband Larry, of Independence, MO; Cody Coonts, of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Ashley Stewart and husband Thomas, of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Johnathon Riley, of San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Malea Morton of Sibley, Mo; grandson, Logan Sanders and granddaughter, Kalyn Sanders of Independence, MO; great- granddaughters, Hallie and Bristol Stewart; brother, John Brewer and wife Joyce of Greenwood, MO and brother, Tom Prior of Monmouth, IL. Plus several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lyndal Keener and brother, Jay Prior.
Jim was very loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City MO, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday April 8th.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Terrace Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or take a family member or friend fishing in memory of Jim.
