Jack A. Chadwick, 91, of Kansas City passed away at his home on March 26, 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 1st at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11a.m. and private burial.
John “Jack” Chadwick was born on May 19, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, the only child born to Therma and Alta (Rossester) Chadwick. He spent time growing up in Denver, Colorado and was a graduate of Hallsville High School in Hallsville , Missouri. After high school, Jack married Maxine West on January 12, 1951, and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Soon after, he was drafted in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War and spent a short time in Japan. Jack worked for Greyhound and General Motors before retiring from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He used his skills to build and repair a variety of items, and he was affectionately known by his family as “Mr. Fix-it”. Jack and Maxine were longtime members of Avondale Baptist Church (now known as Solid Rock Bible Church). He was an avid animal lover - feeding the deer, birds, and stray cats that entered his yard - and he also enjoyed listening to the radio, whether it be talk radio, big band, or mariachi music.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Therma and Alta Chadwick; and wife, Maxine Chadwick. He is survived by his two children, Elaine West (husband, Bruce) and Jack C. Chadwick; grandchildren: Jared West (wife, Amber), Josh West (wife, Diedre), and Jordan West (wife, Anna); great grandchildren: Payton, Preston, Gabriella, Nathanial, Lucas, Savannah, and Sarah “Belle” West, and Erik “Brooks” West; sisters and brothers-in-law: Juanita Bailey, Donna Soehlig, Georgia Ann Cross, Paul West (wife, Carolyn), Karen Barylski, Jack West, Jacqueline Zimmerle (husband, Kenny), and Pam Jackson (husband, Dan); plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Solid Rock Bible Church.
