Ivan Dwight Barney, 95, of Kansas City, MO, died at home on Thursday, November 2, 2017. He was born in Topeka, KS to the late Harry and Lena (Ottinger) Barney on February 26, 1922.
Ivan proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He spent his career as a carpenter, millwright and supervisor in commercial construction. He was an avid Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawk fan; he worked extensively in his yard.
He was the loving husband of 52 years of Karen (Oroke) Barney, loving dad of Kevin Barney and Lura (Brad) Weaver; cherished PaPa of Bryan and Obeng Weaver and dear pet father of Madison. He was a dear uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents Ivan is preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 AM, Service at 10:30 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Interment with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
