Iris Smith

February 14, 1967 — June 12, 2017

Iris LaRonda Smith, 50, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017. She was born February 14, 1967 in St. Louis, MO to Lawyer and Mary Irene (Lake) Ward. The family soon moved to Kansas City, where she grew up. Ron graduated from North Kansas City High School and went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College. Ron had a passion for track and excelled in the 200 M, 400 M and team relays. She set multiple records that held strong for many years and was even inducted into the Hall of Fame at William Jewell College. Ron was an exceptional baker and a master griller. She enjoyed crafting with her daughters and was very social. Ron was also a supporter of the Outreach Christian Education Program. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt; she loved the Lord and is now home with her father and Savior.

Ron is preceded in death by her dad, Lawyer Ward; grandparents, Ada and Lewis Lake, James Ward, Maude Ward and a number of aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Trevor Smith; daughters, Trinity, Kara and Tifanni; mother, Mary Irene Ward; sister, Allegra L. Ward; niece and nephew, Jasmine and Lewis Bynum; God mother, Rosemary Graves; God sisters, Judith Hall and Judith Karpe; God niece and nephew, Jillian Hall and Derek Hall; mother-in-law, Brenda Smith; sisters-in-law, Tracy Smith, Jamie and John Simple, Jacosta Smith; aunts, uncles and many other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 9-10:45 AM with services at 11 AM at Paseo Baptist Church, 2501 Paseo Blvd, Kansas City 64108. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the MS Foundation or American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at terraceparkfh.com
