Ida Geraldine (Miles) Long, Parkville, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family. Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Ida Miles, the youngest of ten children, all of whom preceded her in death.
She leaves a husband of 66 years, Orva John Long; her five sons and one daughter, all from the local area, Rick Long, Mickey Long (Reina), Larry Long (Vicki), Rob Long, Dan Long (Lori) and Trishia Baker (Tom). She had 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Gerry married John in 1950 and eventually settled in Parkville at the home he built and raised a family of which she was the most proud. They also spent many years enjoying their place at The Lake of the Ozarks. She enjoyed reading, fishing and playing games of any kind.
Family was Gerry’s passion and delight; she was happiest cooking, baking and being surrounded by her loved ones. She was a faithful, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:30 PM in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Federation of the blind.
