Howard McKinney

Howard G. McKinney, 68, of Kansas City, MO died November 1, 2011. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday November 5th at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, with visitation preceding services 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to North Cross United Methodist Church or Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church.Howard was a graduate of East High School in Independence, Mo and attended St. Paul's School of Theology and Central Missouri State College where he obtained a teaching degree that he used to teach 7th grade math for 32 years. He was a caring husband, and father whose family was the center of his life. He was active in their scout troops as well as 4-H clubs and music lessons. After retirement he worked as a page for the Mid-Continent Public Library, where he would lose himself in the books he so loved to read. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard K. McKinney and Edith (Cooley) McKinney. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joyce McKinney, children, Allana Ross, Shawn McKinney, and 6 grandchildren.
